North Manchester FM 106.6 is an Answer Cancer Champion. Answer Cancer Greater Manchester have announced their exciting new training schedule planned for the beginning of 2021.
Cancer awareness saves lives. Every year thousands of people are diagnosed with Cancer. We know that the earlier a cancer is detected, the better the outcome for the people involved. Early detection saves lives. Cancer screening saves lives. So why not start the year by topping up your knowledge and confidence so that you can help yourself, your family members, community leaders and staff.

New: Cervical Cancer – Awareness, Screening & Prevention Training
To coincide with Cervical Cancer Prevention Week (18-24 January 2021), we will be running several training sessions to highlight cervical cancer, awareness, prevention and screening. Cervical cancer can be prevented: this training seeks to show women how they can protect themselves and share messages through their networks that may help family, friends and co-workers do the same. This session will be interactive, fun, and full of facts, key messages and information to take away and share with others.
NHS Cancer Screening Programmes
This 90 mins session will super charge your knowledge and understanding of the 3 NHS Cancer Screening Programmes and why they are so important. You will learn who’s eligible, what’s involved, and what messages and approaches we can use to encourage others to take up their screening invite.
Train the Facilitator – Training for Answer Cancer Champions
This exciting course focuses on growing your facilitation skills, knowledge, and confidence. We have had great feedback from participants. You will pick up lots of ideas and training tips so that you can run cancer awareness session back in your own work or community. These are fun and interactive sessions which cover a range of presentation and facilitation techniques.
We will be running 2 separate courses. Each course will run for 2 half-days over 2 consecutive weeks. You will need to attend both half-day sessions to secure your place. There will be a little bit of home study which involves reflecting on your learning. This course is aimed at people who have previously completed at least one other Answer Cancer training course. Creative Approaches to Online and Remote Engagement
It can feel like a challenge to successfully reach and engage your communities, group members and contacts. Social distance restrictions add even more complexity. This training will help by sharing different approaches to help you reach your audiences. We will cover how to use social media, including Facebook Live and Instagram Stories, we will give an overview of Zoom and ways to incorporate it in awareness raising, and how WhatsApp can add to your tools. We will even share ways to get large groups of people to a meeting and free ways to conference call. Only one session available – book early to avoid disappointment.

Community Researcher Training
The Community Researcher Training has been designed to equip Answer Cancer Grant Recipients to do their own research and evaluate the effectiveness of the activities they arrange. It aims to give you a good understanding of the research process, the different tools you can use to do participatory research with the community, and how to manage research data and prepare good quality reports.
