Thursday 3rd February: Mid Morning Magic with special guest Our Dougie

Tune in to next Thursday’s Mid Morning Magic when presenter Johnnie Dawson will be chatting to Our Dougie about his new single Billy Bailey’s Blackbird.

The track is a mash up re-working of 2 jazz classics “Won’t You Come Home Bill Bailey” (1902), and “Bye Bye Blackbird” (1926) in a genre that Our Dougie calls “Electro Acoustic Jazz Rap”.

It is more than 60 years since Our Dougie (Dougie Wright, aged 85) kick started his professional career in 1958 as drummer with the John Barry Seven. During a stay of almost 4 years with the band his work schedule included variety theatres, radio and television broadcasts, film and recording session work plus an appearance before the Queen at the Royal Variety Performance backing Adam Faith in 1960.

Tune in from 10am on North Manchester FM 106.6 on your radio, online and on your smart speaker.
