Coming Up: Hannah’s Bookshelf at 4pm with Martin Venning

Join me on Saturday at 2pm for more Hannah’s Bookshelf on North Manchester FM. This week, I’ll be talking to the brill Martin Venning.

Martin is a new author and has moved into creative writing after a 20-year career in marketing. Originally trained as a journalist he says he has missed the business of producing copy to challenging deadlines as well as the variety of assignments he used to undertake. Based in the north of England, Martin has travelled extensively to destinations off the traditional tourist map and is using his experiences of people and places to inform his narratives.

For his own reading Martin is an avid reader of the spy genre with Charles Cumming and Mick Herron among his favourites and is planning a visit to the forthcoming Theakston Crime Writers’ Festival In Harrogate later this month to pick up some tips. Martin’s third novel is expected to be published in November.

I’ll be talking to Martin about his novels, The Primary Objective and The End of the Road. And, of course, he’ll be sharing his selections for this week’s Apocalypse Books.

Catch the show on Saturday at 2pm on 106.6FM (if you’re in the North Manchester area) or listen online (if you’re further afield).
