Coming up at 2pm: Hannah’s Bookshelf with Jack Horner (Leon The Pig Farmer) & Horror writer Ramsey Campbell

Join me on Saturday at 2pm on North Manchester FM for a Pick and Mix episode of Hannah’s Bookshelf. Here’s what’s coming up on this week’s show…

A review of a new novel by Holly Ringland I’ll be reviewing The Seven Skins of Esther Wilding by Holly Ringland (out now from Legend Press).

An interview with Jack Horner I first interviewed Jack Horner back in March 2021. Jack, aka Leon the Pig Farmer, is a Pennines based beat poet… with a little more than a lot to say. His verse has been described as a rollercoaster of belt fed machine gun fast firing lyrics, and verse that can stun and mesmerize audiences. The author of three illustrated poem collections and one child’s pocket book, he is always on the look out for new challenges. In case you’re curious, Jack’s selections for Apocalypse Books were Animal Farm by George Orwell, Cider with Roadies by Stuart Maconie, and Dead Famous by Ben Elton.

An interview with Ramsey Campbell I first interviewed Ramsey back in January 2016, and we last caught up in July 2021. Ramsey has been given more awards than any other writer in the field, including the Grand Master Aware of the World Horror Convention, the Lifetime Achievement Award of the Horror Writers Association, the Living Legend Award of the International Horror Guild, and the World Fantasy Lifetime Achievement Award. His trilogy, The Three Births of Daoloth, further develops the cosmic horrors he invented in his first published book, The Inhabitant of the Lake (which turns 60 years old this year!). His most recent books are Six Stooges and Counting (PS Publishing), The Lonely Lands (Flame Tree Press) and The Village Killings and Other Novellas (PS Publishing).

Library Haul!… I’ll be talking about the books I’ve checked out this month from Abraham Moss Library in Crumpsall.

And What Are You Reading?… the section of the show where I ask writers about the books they’re reading at the moment. This week I’ve got another selection of reviews and recommendations. And if you’re a writer who’d like to take part, check out this post with details of how to join in!

Plus… you can hear my round-up of news from the World of Words. If you’ve got a news story you’d like to share, please use the News Form to submit it to the show.

Catch the show on Saturday at 2pm on 106.6FM (if you’re in the North Manchester area) or listen online (if you’re further afield).
