Live Music Day is nearly here! North Manchester FM 106.6 is giving over its airwaves from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 23rd July 2016 to this very special event.

We can exclusively reveal that the Lord Mayor of Manchester, Councillor Carl Austin-Behan, will be attending Live Music Day from 10-11am. Members of the public are invited to come along to the Manchester Communication Academy (on the corner of Rochdale Rd and Queens Rd) to meet him. It is an excellent opportunity for local residents to spend some time with Manchester’s first citizen. Mr. Austin-Behan was recently interviewed by the station’s ‘Friendly Friday’ team, and as a result has agreed to support the event by his attendance.

Each hour, a different show will feature a local artist playing a live session on air. And following their sessions, all of our guests will be performing in front of a live audience in the foyer of the Manchester Communication Academy. The live performances are open to the public, and are free to attend. So we encourage everybody who is in the area to come along to experience the first ever Live Music Day at North Manchester FM 106.6.

Live guests on the day will include THE PUZZLE FACTORY, a 4-piece alternative rock band with members from Hyde and Middleton. They have been together since 2003, and their influences include Rush, Muse and The Dream Theater. They will be playing live on the ‘50RPM’ show, presented by Sam Whiteside, between 3pm and 4pm. Also on that show, Simon Footitt, the frontman of Manchester blues rock band SWAMPDOG, will be performing live. And following the show, both artists will be playing for the public in the foyer of the Manchester Communication Academy.

Earlier in the day, the ‘Living Up!’ show will feature the dub poetry of PAPA LOVE live in session. Presented by Paul Henry, the show will be on air between 10am and 11am, kicking off the live proceedings on North Manchester FM 106.6. Further live guests will be confirmed nearer to the occasion.

Station manager David Kay said: “We are delighted that the Lord Mayor has agreed to come to Live Music Day at the Manchester Communication Academy on Saturday 23rd July. We have built up a relationship with him, and are very proud that he has decided to give us this support. This is a great chance for the public to find out more about what we do at North Manchester FM 106.6, and for us to help support some of the area’s best talent.”
