Hopwood DePree talks Hopwood Hall on Helping of History

“Tune in on Tuesday at 12 for another Helping of History on North Manchester FM.”, writes presenter Hannah Kate.

“This week, I’m going to be talking about Middleton’s Hopwood Hall with the fab Hopwood DePree“.

Hopwood

Hopwood DePree was raised in the United States where he graduated from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. He began his career as an independent filmmaker, winning awards and critical acclaim. He has worked with top Hollywood studios and production companies, and has financed and produced projects in collaboration with multiple Academy Award winning and nominated artists. Hopwood consults on entertainment and media ventures for celebrities and brands and has been recognized for his accomplishments by CNN, BBC, Wall Street Journal, Variety, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Chicago Sun-Times, The Washington Post, and The Telegraph among others. But now, he’s in Middleton, helping to rescue the Grade II*-listed Hopwood Hall (his ancestral home) from years of neglect. Hopwood has pledged both passion and resources to help preserve the building and its estate.

As well as Kate’s interview with Hopwood, Tuesday’s show will see a new instalment of The Heaton Park Mystery – the baffling real-life case from 1883 – and she’ll be reading Yesterday’s Papers. And, of course, you’ll be able to pit your wits against the Who Am I? quiz – just how well do you know North Manchester’s buildings?

If you’ve got a question or a comment about Hopwood Hall, or if you think you’ve got the answer to the quiz, don’t forget to text the studio on 07555 461066 or tweet @HannahKateish.

Catch A Helping of History on Tuesday at 12 on 106.6FM (if you’re in the North Manchester area) or listen online (if you’re further afield).
