The time has come for Big Ben to leave Manchester and return to Westminster – but not before we give you a chance to take home a free book.
All weekend, join us in Piccadilly Gardens as we dismantle Marta Minujín’s Big Ben Lying Down – and take home one of the 20,000 books that have covered it for the last fortnight.
Come to Piccadilly Gardens this weekend (noon-10pm Friday 16th, 10am–10pm Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th July) and pick up a free book from the tables around the sculpture.
You don’t need to make a reservation – simply turn up on the day and take your book, chosen at random from the selection on the table.
The 160 different books that cover Big Ben tell an electrifying story about the British people – from Thomas Paine’s Rights of Man, written in 1791, to Marcus Rashford’s You Are a Champion, published this year.
Discover the full list of books online, then join us this weekend to take yours home – https://bigben.mif.co.uk/explore/read…
‘By taking a book, people create the artwork. The people of Manchester will create a new Big Ben that the UK will never forget.’ – Marta Minujín
