Coming Up: Hannah’s Bookshelf from 2pm with guest Simon Young

Join me on Saturday at 2pm for more Hannah’s Bookshelf on North Manchester FM. This week, I’ll be welcoming the brill Simon Young to the show.

Simon is a British folklore historian, based in Italy. He has a longstanding interest in the study of the supernatural. In 2017 he edited Magical Folk with Ceri Houlbrook, and he has published dozens of peer-reviewed articles in Folk LifeFolkloreGramaryeSupernatural StudiesTradition Today and other journals. Simon’s book, The Boggart: Folklore, History, Place-names and Dialect, was published by University of Exeter Press in March this year, and he is continues to compile stories of encounters with fairies via the Fairy Census.

I’ll be talking to Simon about boggarts, fairies and other aspects of history and folklore. And, of course, he’ll be sharing his selections for this week’s Apocalypse Books.
