Coming Up: Hannah’s Bookshelf from 2pm with guests author Jeff Cottrill, poet Skylar J. Wynter and artist Neshka Turner

Join me on Saturday at 2pm for another episode of Hannah’s Bookshelf on North Manchester FM. This week, I’ll be joined in the virtual studio by Jeff CottrillSkylar J. Wynter and Neshka Turner. It’s the first triple-header on Hannah’s Bookshelf!

Jeff is a fiction writer, poet, journalist and spoken-word artist based in Toronto, Canada. He has headlined in countless literary series throughout Canada, the UK, the US, France and Ireland over the last twenty years. His performance style is influenced by slam conventions, but subverts them with wit, ironic humour and a satirical tone. In March, Dragonfly Publishing released Jeff’s debut novel Hate Story, a unique mix of satire and mystery.

Skylar is the best-selling author of poetry and flash fiction collection, Pieces of Humanity, released on 10th October 2020 to align with National Mental Health month. After an incident which changed the course of her life in 2014, Skylar turned to various art forms to process the trauma and make sense of her new self. She shares her poetry in the hopes it will help others find peace within their own realities and encourage humanity to reach out to each other with decency.

Neshka is an emerging Australian artist living in sunny Perth, Western Australia. She has studied art under her mother’s — also an artist — guidance since early childhood. Neshka graduated from Newtown High School of the Performing Arts and went on to study Visual Art at the Sydney College of the Arts in the 90s. Now she illustrates poems and more. Neshka and Skylar have recently collaborated on the poetry collection, Shine, published earlier this year by Dragonfly Publishing.

I’ll be talking to Jeff, Skylar and Neshka about Hate Story and Shine, and about their work in general. And, of course, they’ll be sharing their selections for this week’s Apocalypse Books.

Catch the show on Saturday at 2pm on 106.6FM (if you’re in the North Manchester area) or listen online (if you’re further afield).
