Join me on Saturday at 2pm for another episode of Hannah’s Bookshelf on North Manchester FM. This week, my guest will be the brill Jenny Sanders.
Jenny has been writing ever since she could hold a pencil. Her early years efforts include: Tales from the Jungle 1 & 2 and The Bloodthirsty Adventure, written at ages 6 and 8 respectively; first editions are gold dust. She won a school radio competition age 12, and dreamed of becoming an English teacher. Shifting focus slightly, she studied for an arts degree in Winchester, and flirted with a career in TV presenting before getting married and embarking on the adventure of motherhood (four times). In the mid 1990s, she began writing a column for her local Hampshire newspaper which she did for the next twelve years. Jenny moved to beautiful Bath, and worked in a primary school with Key Stage 2 children, until she began spending more time in South Africa.
Her adult non-fiction book, Spiritual Feasting is available to order online, in which she explores authentic faith in a world which throws us all regular curveballs. It’s available as an e-book and as an audio book, read by herself. In a very different genre, The Magnificent Moustache and Other Stories, and (coming soon), Charlie Peach’s Pumpkins and Other Stories, are both collections of humorous tales, written for Key Stage 2 children, published by The Conrad Press. Jenny loves the creative writing sessions she takes into primary schools, based on these stories. She has written for a number of magazines including the popular online publication: Mom’s Favourite Reads.
I’ll be talking to Jenny about both her fiction and non-fiction writing on Saturday’s show. And, of course, she’ll be sharing her selections for this week’s Apocalypse Books.
Catch the show on Saturday at 2pm on 106.6FM (if you’re in the North Manchester area) or listen online (if you’re further afield).
