Debt Justice meeting tomorrow

We want to challenge the issue of debt in our towns and boroughs. We have invited all the Greater Manchester Mayoral Candidates to hear the stories of those of us facing the devastating effect of debt. We will ask them to pledge to address this in a positive and dynamic way, now and in the future.

For some people, the reasons behind being in debt feel too shameful to speak about, and we don’t believe that should be the case.

We believe the financial and political systems have a lot to answer for, that recognition of changing circumstances needs to happen. Action against pushing people further into poverty to repay debt needs to be a priority for any newly elected Mayor. For so many of us, this was not a life we chose.

We want this event to be the beginning of change in Greater Manchester, where we change the story around a life in debt, for our communities and future generations.

We want you to help us speak truth to power, and to hold people who are able to change things for us all to account. Come along to show your support and join a community organising for change.
